The other day I was playing rogue, and as I dropped down from level 1, I was
plopped right into the middle of a party room.  I tried to boogy out of there
but to no avail.  Then, out of desperation, I read an unidentified scroll in
the hopes that it would be a teleport, and, miracle of miracles, it was.  So,
I wandered around and finally cleared the monsters out of the party room except
for a single bat, and an orc, who kept moving diagonally back and forth between
two spots.  It looked like this:

The bat didn't move, but
every time I moved, the orc would just move to the position up and left of the
one shown above, and then back again when I moved again.  It would make this
move about 80% of the times I moved.  It didn't move until I made a run for the
gold in the middle of the room.  Anyone know what's happening here?
