I tried to boogy out of there ~| but to no avail. Then, out of desperation, I read an unidentified scroll in ~| the hopes that it would be a teleport, and, miracle of miracles, it was. So, ~| I wandered around and finally cleared the monsters out of the party room except ~| for a single bat, and an orc, who kept moving diagonally back and forth between ~| two spots. It looked like this: ~| ~| ########### ~| ----@--- ~| +......| ~| |...*..| ~| |BO.?*.| ~| -------- ~| ~| The bat didn't move, but ~| every time I moved, the orc would just move to the position up and left of the ~| one shown above, and then back again when I moved again. It would make this ~| move about 80% of the times I moved. It didn't move until I made a run for the ~| gold in the middle of the room. Anyone know what's happening here? Orcs, as we know, head for gold. In this case, the Orc is heading for the gold in the corner which the Bat happens to be sitting on. Since it can't get there, it keeps flutterng around desparately in an attempt to reach it. (It's the same behaviour you see when you are standing on a scare monster and some poor beastie is trying to attack you.)
