A bit of background seems to be in order: The Wizar'ds Password lets a player become a rogue "super user." I.e., a Wizard can create rings, charge them up to a +10000 rating, go up or down through the levels of the dungeon at will, etc. But, playing a game as a Wizard results in NO SCORE. If you successfully invoke the Wizard's Password, you can play the game...and there will be no score when you finiosh. Even if you become the Wizard, and then in the same game return to being your old self (i.e., "uninvoke" yourself so that you are no longer the Wizard), you still get no score. It's kinda fun, however, to create a ring of protection, zap it up to a +10000 rating (then nothing can hit you), create a ring of add damage, zap it up to +10000 (then your bare fist will destroy anything), create food as needed, and blast the hell out of those things that always give you trouble. But, I ask, whatever for? Anyway, whoever put rogue up on your machine probably knows what that version's Wizard's Password is...if he doesn't, then he can get up as superuser and find it and make it anything he wants to...Merlin, Gandalf, Modru, whatever... The Wizard is a mechanism for debugging rogue...i.e., it lets you play with super attributes so that you can get to the area of the game where the bug's symptoms appear... Incidentally, the Wizard has a special set of commands available to him so that he can create things, etc. So that's the story, or part of it, and now maybe most of you who have been asking about the Wizard's Password will have had your curiosity piqued or slaked...
