One other danger to be aware of about switching from a crib to a bed.
You don't know if your child will sleep walk until he/she has the
freedom to do so.  If your bedrooms are on the seond floor, there
is a danger that your child may sleep walk, or just walk not quite
awake yet, out of his/her room and fall down a staircase.  It is safer
to use a gate at the doorway to the room or the top of the stairs.
