This did not stop astute mathematicians from guessing the details of the algorithm, assisted by an article in a popular diplomacy magazine. Although the algorithm is now known to have an average-case processing rate that is _significantly_ lower than that for any published sorting procedure, it still has not appeared in print! -- Col. G.
