They don't do anything (yet) that couldn't be done by traditional methods. In fact I think they lose a considerable sense of depth. DP et al claim they can do it cheaper. I don't know. I'm not a movie accountant. On a professional level I have a certain amount of interest since I know it is quite difficult to produce such complete shaded images. As a filmgoer I say "big deal". What I look forward to is when they use the technology to do something original that couldn't be done without it.
