Regarding the holding of these political conventions when the outcome
(i.e, the nominees) are already determined:

If the Democrats had any integrity, they would have cancelled their
convention and given the money saved thereby to the poor.

If the Rupublicans had any integrity, they would cancel their convention
and given the money saved thereby to the funds supplying the Afghan
freedom-fighters. (I can't spell mujahadim -- see?)

However, since the the intersection of the set of politicians and
the quality of integrity is a null set (I think I got that terminology
correct), things will continue as normal.
