This brings to mind a gripe I had regarding this area. Some years ago, I tried to find out how many people had voted for "Pat Paulsen" and for the other such "irregular" write-in humorous or bizarre candidates. I could not. Digging through the reference material in the main St. Louis public library would disclose no more detail than an "other" category. Does anyone out there know where the real and detailed vote counts for national elections can be found? I want something that breaks it down to listing ALL the minor party candidates, and any write-ins who get at least 10 votes or so. (I suppose there are a bunch of people who write in their own name; that's who should be listed as "other"!) I would think that there would be many political scientists or sociologists who could use such data for research or theses; it must be available SOMEWHERE! But where?
