It is(?)/was used by the MTA to ship newly acquired subway cars from the Brooklyn docks ( they get 'ferried' over from 'Jersey -- Hoboken, I believe ) to the Coney Island yards, where they are cheked out before being inflicted on the riding public. This, of course works only for the 'IND' and 'BMT' cars. Does anybody know how the 'IRT' cars get shipped to NYC and where they are eventually introduced into the system ? -- Ben Krepp (inmet!benk) P.S.
