After talking to a friend (who is prob'ly old enough to know
better), I have some new thoughts on why women put up with jerks

(1)He's useful--she's learning all about auto mechanics and
   office politics from him
(2)He's basically a good guy, he just need to grow up/get over
   his ex/whatever, he's getting better, and she wants to be around
   when he is ready again to make any sort of commitment (I've not
   met this guy, but apparently saying "girlfriend" is a major
   commitment for him right now)
(3)She's working 60 hr. weeks and doesn't have time to look for
   anything better (And it's not clear there is much better
   anywhere near where she works)
