	Why do men date beautiful women?  Has anyone ever noticed that
	many men think it's important to date beautiful women. In fact
	they seem obsessed. Do you think that they are insecure and
	need a to date beautiful women to raise their self esteem and
	status in the world.

	On a more serious note....

Until I read this sentence, I thought you *were* absolutely serious.
There's certainly a lot of truth to the first paragraph.
Beautiful women *are* seen as desirable,  and dating someone seen as
desirable by the people around you certainly will raise your status.
And it doesn't matter what the "beautiful woman" is really like as
a person; the ego boost is there as long as others actually consider
her desirable (which may be easier to do from a distance!)

And most people I've known are quite insecure in some way or other.
Maybe men are just better-trained to hide their insecurity?
