I just grew a beard in the last two months (to please a now-ex SO) who commented that she really liked beards. In fact, several women that I haven't seen for a while commented that I am looking really good these days. I'm sure my contact lenses help too (my glasses are real Coke bottle bottoms), but I think that women really do find facial hair attractive. My beard is rather scraggly, even (is that a real word?) Unfortunately, most of those women, I've been friends with for too long for this new impression to do me any good. Obviously, I also agree with the person who recently stated here that if you've been friends for a sufficiently long time, creating a romance out of it is hopeless. That means the only way to start a romance is to create excitement quickly. Perhaps this would also explain the "nice guys finish last" syndrome that has always frustrated me to no end, and obviously others here as well, if recent submissions are any indication. "Nice" guys also tend to be rather shy, which means they normally move very slowly. Not exactly creating excitement quickly. Hmm, I think I'm on to something here, and it isn't drugs :-) --Greg -- {ucbvax!hplabs | allegra!nbires | decvax!stcvax | harpo!seismo | ihnp4!stcvax} !hao!woods "I only want to hold you, I don't want to tie you down"
