"Cute", in my informal lexicon, means having a girlish appearance and/or personality [the two tend to occur together -- e.g. Boy George :-)]. (Sorry, I don't want to take the time to figure out a "gag" symbol in punctuation.) "Beautiful" means having an appearance (especially the hair) suggesting a richness and deepness; the correlation between appearance and the actual person inside is less than in the "cute" case.
