It has to do with what types of intelligence you look for in a MOTOS, and the types of intelligence that there are. I break up intelligence up into 2 different catagories: 1) 'Academic' Intelligence - This is the stuff like GPA in college, IQ, and how well one does in the working world. People who excel in this catagory are usually labeled 'Brain','Genius', or 'Hacker' :-). 2) 'Life' Intelligence - This is a hard type to label, but what I generally mean is the type of common-sense intelligence required to function in the daily world. This includes such things as organizing abilities, handling of money/budget, time management, keeping up on current events, decision making, interacting with people properly, etc. This catagory covers a wide range of things that are not covered in Academic Intelligence. ***************************************************************************** My question to the net.singles population is, what type of Intelligence do you value more in a MOTOS and why? ***************************************************************************** My personal opinion is that I tend to place more importance on the 'Life' Intelligence catagory than 'Academic' Intelligence. It is more important to me that my SO has the capbilities to function independently and be an interesting person to me OUTSIDE the realm of a academic or work world. Others in this newgroup have talked about being able to talk 'shop' with their SO, and this is important too. But when I look for Intelligence in a MOTOS I usually look for the 'common-sense' variety first, then secondarily the 'academic' type. I look forward to some interesting discussion on this topic...
