My requirements are simple: someone with whom I can discuss corect speling and grammer [Academic]; ability to feed self is also handy (I'm strong on being able to swallow, expert spoon or chopstick handling and ability to financially support one's own diet are definitely big +s) [Life]. :-) It's never talking shop that I look for, it's more like sharing shop: talking about each other's work and work environment, and sharing and teaching each other skills. Not to mention sharing other life experiences, either by physical presence and/or by talking afterwards. Feeling strongly nomadic today, I resist analyzing personalities into these two flavors, and look instead at how closely the flavors enhance each other. Common sense helps us all get our work done--common sense on how to tackle problems, organize thoughts, and, of course, common sense on how to get past the paperwork. Not to mention common sense about dealing with coworkers. On the other hand, common sense is learned behavior, and lots of my academic experience was intended to give me technical common sense. Common interests are things I seek in friends. Things to do and to talk about. And not *just* books and bikes and bems and bytes, but people. Ski Mojave!
