There was an article published a few years ago about the possible dangers posed by EST. As I recall, the authors had collected seven case histories of people who had suffered serious mental disorders after taking EST. Numbers of this magnitude suggest that the chance of you committing suicide or ending up in a mental institution as a result of taking EST are minute.
