I'm bowing out of this discussion.  (I've already told rainbow this in the
last mail I sent to him.)  I'm willing to continue the discussion further
by mail if anyone is interested - in fact, I've been doing so off and on
with a few people for a week or so.  However, I've found that in general
it's not possible to achieve enough communication to make continuing in a
public forum worthwhile.  The parent and grandparent to this article
(726@ihuxe and 604@opus, respectively) should make this clear if you care
to reread them.

One last thought, which might or might not be construed as a parting shot:
