Tolerance? There must be SOME around here somewhere! Message-ID: <2984@rabbit.UUCP> Date: Tue, 17-Jul-84 11:22:02 EDT Article-I.D.: rabbit.2984 Posted: Tue Jul 17 11:22:02 1984 Date-Received: Wed, 18-Jul-84 02:40:56 EDT Organization: AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill Lines: 35 Resolved: Neither Trish nor Alan are wrong. Trish has had bad experiences with males, a fact that surprises me not at all. Alan has had bad experiences when people expect him to act like Trish's perception of males, and doesn't like being accused of same. I don't doubt that much either. I've experienced it myself. I won't name ANY names, but it's common for anyone to project their own past actions into their opinions of others. Such a projection is both unfair and insulting, and leads to an exponential increase in misunderstanding of all parties. The namecalling (which more than Trish and Alan have become involved in) in net.singles is serving no purpose other than engendering hostility. Those who feel that they MUST get in the last word are doing the entire readership a disservice. IF you think you have something to say about this subject, please write your response, put it in a file, and save it for 24 hours, and then re-read it before you post it. If you can say, 24 hours later, that you still feel the same way, and you will not embarrass yourself with your strongly stated sentiments, then post it. Otherwise, rewrite it, or trash it. This collective brow-beating has gone on for long enough. (24 hours later)
