Flaunting a gay lifestyle in the classroom may be a different story, but they're not any more likely to do that than anyone else. Most gays are not queening around all the time. Their gayness is just one aspect of their lives. Has anyone ever seen a German subtitled movie called "Taxi zum Clo" (sp?) (Taxi to the Loo). It was a sort of autobiography of the script writer who is gay and a former teacher. It's not the sort of thing you want to see if you are at all squeemish about seeing a variety of non-hetero-type sex acts. Anyway, it was a great film. It showed every area of this guys life, including his teaching. Although the emphasis of this movie was the main character's sex life, since it was written by a gay man it showed every aspect of his life as a normal human being. Anyway, my point is that if people get used to seeing gays as people that happen to have a different sexual preference, they won't be so freaked out about it, and having one as a teacher is an awfully good start.
