Parents (or anyone else) should be able to remove a teacher from a school only if he or she is a bad teacher. It's an old exercise, but try changing the word "gay" in the quoted sentence to "black" or "female" or "male" or "Jewish" or "born-again Christian" and see what you think of it then. > I have observed that most parents believe this is so. I do prefer democracy, which is *not* the same as majority rule. In a democracy, there are restrictions to protect minorities from the rule of the majority. They don't always work (consider the internment of Japanese-Americans during WW2), but they are much better than nothing. Disclaimer: I am not a parent.
