My theory: Support: My view has been stated by someone... why duplicate? An attaperson delivered by mail suffices. Oppose: How dare someone express such ridiculous thoughts? This calls for a public rebuttal! I would further observe that a lot of inflammatory rebuttals don't seem to be very well thought-out, but are off-the-cuff reactions.
