Yeah, it's true that if you don't take a chance, you won't get to experience
the joys, and on the other hand, you can also get hurt.  Problem is, for
some people, the cost of being hurt is so great that they would rather be 
lonely than to take a chance (which could result in a lot of happiness) and
get hurt.  Put another way, it's worth more to them to be lonely than to be
rejected. 


Sad, but true.  But, like somebody said, "Nobody said it was going to be easy".
