In the course of my search, I looked at and checked into all the Proton monitors. I talked to a friend who owns the service shop many of the local Proton dealers send their customers to. He felt that Proton's reliability was not great (although not terrible either) and their processing was SLOW. He has had some sets for 7 months waiting for parts from Proton. I think Proton has a good picture, but it was not the best I saw. I did side by side comparisons with the same source (a top Sony machine). I finally decide on a Hitachi CT-2000 (uses the new flat 20" tube) which sells for the same price as the Proton 619 and I like the color and clarity better on the Hitachi. Raan Young (hp-pcd!raan)
