Has anyone done a clean job of the following:

1. Hayes mode autodial (and status message decoding).

2. Automatic line turnaround (modem line normally has a login; when
uucico (or cu) wants to call out it disables the line, then enables when
done).

(I currently do both with crufty hacks, but performance suffers).

We run 4.1, but I'd like to see code for any system.
