I think I speak for most PHC devotees (most of whom may be too
shy to speak much at all) when I say that 2 hrs is not too long  
a time slot.  But since your whimsical attention span is
(arguably) shorter than ours, your idea of recording  
the show on a reel-to-reel (but why not cassette?...) tape  
sounds like a good solution.
 
5PM central time is indeed the real time for the show.
On some stations the show is delayed.  For a nationwide 
schedule, look up the news on net.wobegon from around Mar 11.
