First of all, there seem to be some local qualms about SUN reliability that have risen from stories from a small number of sites. So, what sort of reliability problems have people had with SUN-2/120 systems? In particular, the early SUN systems seem to have had significant problems with board failures, and horrific problems with monitor failures; have these problems been resolved? Second, we're planning on getting the subset source (SUBSRC) license for our systems and we were wondering if this proves to be adequate for the most part or if the omitted sections are often sorely missed. Also, I've never gotten things quite straight about bad block handling on the SUN. It is my understanding that the SMD drives do support bad block handling, but the SCSI drives do not. Is this the case? Many thanks, Bill Mitchell whm.arizona@csnet-relay {noao,mcnc,utah-cs}!arizona!whm
