John Gray mentions that it would be hard to find a mouse that would stand
up to months of abuse by visitors.

Not true:  the Mouse House Optical mouse, when sealed by a sheet of clear
plastic, is quite kid proof.   I tried it out,  and it survived three weeks
in a pre-school environment.  Sad to say, the terminal keyboard we first
tried out did not.  Consider what a glass of orange juice can do, and shudder.
