The gateway is built from three multibus cards: 68K CPU, ethernet, and applebus. The applebus hardware and low-level code (LAP) are very solid at this time. In its first incarnation, the gateway will encapsulate applebus DDP datagrams in IP/UDP packets (and vice versa). The applebus card is our own (trivial) design. For those who are interested the schematic for this card (and other details of the hardware) are available in a file for FTPing: [SUMEX]applegate.hard. We plan on releasing the gateway software in the same fashion as our SUMACC package (copyrighted; may be used, but not sold). I'm releasing the hardware plans now in case any of you might want to start assembling the pieces for your own gateway.
