The Impress language nicely supports the primitives required for stipling, etc., needed by cifplot. Unfortunately there were bugs in the Imagen firmware (v1.8), and so plots of any complexity came out wrong. These problems were reported to Imagen some time back, but I am not sure whether they were ever fixed.
