Spotted an interesting item in one of the audio mags.  Some company
devoted to ultra-high ending is buying Phillips (Magnavox) CD players
and replacing the servo circuits and the ANALOG filtering with their
own stuff.  The unit is put out by (I think) Meridian.

I keep hearing that Phillips botched the digital filtering.  I sort of suspect
that the people who say this say it because the analog portion of the unit
must be inherently superior, right?
