If it is exactly one revolution of the record, it is groove distortion. If it is not exactly one revolution of the record, it had to come from somewhere else, presumably tape print thru. mikey at trsvax I heard some time ago of a record processor that when cutting a master disk, would play it twice. Once to find out where the loud passsages were that were preceded by quite passages. This system would then give a slightly larger gap to the groves at the second tape playing and cutting process to limit the echo. I don't know if anyone is using this machine, but it sounded like a good idea.
