Having previously owned a `71 240Z, a `75 280Z and a `80 Turbo Trans Am, I feel that the Turbo Z is by far the best of these cars. The Z certainly has the best acceleration, cornering and stopping ability. In specific answer to the power question, the Turbo version will have more power than your present 280ZX. The Turbo puts out about 200 horsepower max while I think your Z delivers about 140 hp. If you decide you want the Turbo, chances are that you will also be forced to get the digital package also. All the Turbos I have seen have this "option" (mine does). Actually, I like the features supplied with the digital package. The digital MPH is very easy to read, and easier to interpret than the analog dial. The Tach provides RPM, Turbo boost, and power torque curve information all at once in an easy to read display. The only disadvantage of having the Turbo package that I can think of is that you will need to have the oil changed every 3,000 miles instead or 7500 miles. A small price to pay for the dramatically improved performance (with the Goodyear Eagle GTs on the Turbo, it actually stops in a shorter distance than the non-turbo version). In summary, I am quite pleased with my Turbo Z and would recommend it to anyone interested in this style of car. Barton Brown hplabs!hppcd!barton
