I have my hitch bolted on the bumper and I have air shocks. Unless you plan on trailering a lot, you may not need all that muscle. Think about all the time you will be driving without that boat. The hardest thing trailering can do to a car or truck is the the things that happen as a result of tight maneuvers like parking and backing. The negative effects I've noticed are belts loosening and trans gasket loosening.
