How about John Barth and "Giles Goat-Boy"?  This would be considered
science fiction, except that its too good.
It would be considered pornography, except that its too good.
So they call it literature and (I believe) its won major awards.
At least Barth has won major awards, even if "Giles" didn't.

Give this incredible outrageous, inventive, and baudy book a read.
Force yourself past the first 25% which may seem uninteresting,
you'll be glad you did.
