The article described her experiences in that area. She said (essentially) that she was treated pretty much like her male counterparts when she was acting as a reporter, but she was treated like a Saudi woman when on the street (she had to ride in a separate section on buses, etc.). She said that Saudis found it very strange when she said that she had no husband or family, so much so that she couldn't get her interviews done because of their curiosity about her single life, so she invented a husband and family for herself, and all the questioning stopped. So, is it possible that the Saudi University is looking for men AND women? Hard to say. I'd be surprised if they gave equal opportunity to Jews.
