The common point to all responses was that the SNELL approval IS important. Some helmets that were recommended were "Shoei Z-100", "Simpson Carbon Fiber", "Bell Star", "Bell TourStar", and Nava (not Nova, sorry). I tried several helmets at several dealers. I found one restriction was size (I take a 7 7/8). Only Nava and Bell make helmets this size. I ended up with a Bell TourStar, not only because I found it more comfortable (I didn't like the padding on the Nava across the cheek), but it seems more protective since it comes down below the chin. I paid $127. for it which is $30. below list. I see it advertised in magazines for $97. though. Has anyone ever ordered anything from these mail order places? Thanks again, Scott J.
