I was just talking to my daughter Amy the other night, and she told me
"Daddy, I'm so frightened by Ronald Reagan.  These nuclear weapons have
me so afraid that I can't even think any more.  When will it all end,
this evil in the White House, as Uncle Tip puts it?"

Well, like any good father, I reassured her that her feelings were OK:
"Don't worry, Amy dear, you're no different from the rest of us.  I
think a great man, maybe it was Neville Chamberlain, said 'Maybe if we
close our eyes and bare our throats the wolves will feel less
threatened and leave us alone.  They are just like us, after all.'  So,
for now all you can go is close your eyes and go to sleep.  Some day
you'll grow up and sign petitions dreamed up by the greatest
thought-avoiders and wishful-thinkers of our time.  In the meantime you
can do your part by telling your little classmates that the evil in the
White House has a low IQ and an itchy trigger finger.  After all, if
Uncle Tip says it, then it must be true."
