To all those who thought I shouldn't have posted my rather pointed reply to a pseudo helpful article in net.sources back to that group I can only give one excuse. The original article bore no resemblance to a source, and in my opinion wouldn't have been much help. I'm not losing any sleep. As to my use of 7 letter words, I call em as I see em. I almost took that first paragraph out but since all the disgust that made me respond in the first place was in that section I decided to let it stand. I was amazed at the number of people who misunderstood the intent of the posting. If I wanted to chastise an individual I'd do it with mail. I wanted to state that I was fed up with so called experts that are too jealous of their knowledge to share it with people who need help. I don't know the person who posted that article personally so I can't actually say he's like this. From his article he sounded like it and that's all I said. I didn't post the original article in this saga. I know about << and lots of other "arcane" UNIX things. The problem is you can't look up << in the permuted index. The same goes for >>, |, &, and lots of other obscure combinations. While we're on the subject, where should questions like the one that prompted this discussion be posted? Is there a group like net.unix.arcane? Jerry Nowlin ihnp4!ihu1e!nowlin
