For you see it is people like you and your hubby that enable sores like Northern Ireland to fester , to thrive. Have you ever been to northern Ireland? Have you felt the threat of armed tank outside your front door? Do you know what it's like to be told because your an Irish catholic you won't be employed even at the dirtiest of jobs? Sure the attitudes of the south predominatly are narrow and protective ones. Over 3/4's the population of Ireland has yet to see the degredation of Northern Ireland and the lifestyle of the catholic populace there. Why? For the same reasons people here in the United States never see urban decay! It's something seen on T.V. but never really experienced until one has been there. Maybe it is a fear. A fear that what one has may be taken away if one tried to do something about it. A self inflicted ignorance that elicits a "hear no evil" type attitude. This applies so heavily to the people of Ireland. The people there do not have much, so they fear for what little they have. Just like the U.S.. To say the catholics would be shooting each other if not for the english is ludicrous too. I honestly think you are talking off the top of your head and sincerely apologize if you see it as an insult. I truely can not agree with what you have stated previously and do not wish to continue discussing this with you. It is unfortunate you can not take a bit a humor and exaggerated sarcasm and to discuss this with you is truely not worth getting exasperated over. Good-Luck Trisha, Suzanne.
