If there were one thing I could give to the world, it would be the ablity to laugh at itself. I am awed by the number of problems we daily face, as individuals, institutions, and governments that can be traced to persons, alone or together, taking themselves and their affairs too damn seriously! If Reagan were in the least bit serious, even subconscously, about "eliminating" Russia, you can bet he would guard that notion carefully, nurturing and developing it into an argument that might be believed. As it is, his quip, little different from the kind of joking we all do (someone recently noticed that Chevy Chase made a very similar remark on SNL) is more realistically a safety valve through which he released some of his frustration with the Soviets. -- [ I am not a stranger, but a friend you haven't met yet ] Ray Simard Loral Instrumentation, San Diego {ucbvax, ittvax!dcdwest}!sdcsvax!sdccsu3!loral!simard
