If we didn't adopt such a "get-tough" position, the USSR would be building more and more very expensive missles, and we wouldn't be. So the federal deficit would be less, but we would have been in a very dangerous world situation. I think that some financial problems and a balance of terror are much preferable than lower interest rates and a gross imbalance of terror in favor of the USSR... Wayne
