Lines: 54 I just purchased a new rotary electric razor. I had my old one for 7 years, but I think the motor was getting crusty. I went out to buy a new one and here's what I found: You should know I was only considering the Norelco razors, but I would be interested in anyones opinions on the Schick or Remington. Our family used Remington for years, then 5 or 6 years ago went with Norelco. Now (because they are bought for presents) we are a Norelco family almost exclusively. So anyhow I went to the store. First, what did I have before? I had a rechargeable norelco that had 9 or 10 closeness setting. The recharger allowed me to shave from the electric outlet or cordless. What did I find in the stores? Three models. The first wasnt recharageable - and didnt have any closeness settings. The second was rechargeable, but also had no closeness settings. The third wasnt rechargeable (must be plugged in)- but DID have closeness settings. I played with the closeness settings and they really didn't look like they did as much as my old razor's closeness settings. On my old razor one could see the heads retract. So what did I do? I really wanted the closest razor to my old one...and quite honestly I could probably get away w/o the closeness settings. I bought the rechargeable (w/o the closeness settings). So I get the thing home, unpack it, plug it in the wall and go to try the thing out. It's discharged!! Great. But here's the thing: my old razor ...even if discharged ...you could plug the thing into the wall and it would work with the cord. It seems that this isnt the case here. It seems to only work cordless...meaning it must be charged. Why can't Norelco just produce a razor that is the same as the one I got as a present 7 years ago? It seems to be a real digression from the one that was produced years ago. Also the price has gone up alot. (I dont read net.flame....send carbon copy to me if you respond).
