Just read a comment on my comment about this whole discussion being
depressing. The comment is well taken - we shouldn't hide our heads
in the sand (so to speak) since the whole world situation will not
go away by ignoring it. (Although that concept offers some interesting
possibilities... :-)).

I never intended to suggest we STOP the discussion, nor did I comment
on the relevance of the discussion. I offered a simple observation:
this discussion *IS* depressing. The fact that world events make it
necessary makes it no less depressing. I also offer no solution to
this dilemma.

BTW, I'd rather watch/partake in this discussion, which is handled by
educated, erudite people, than the same version at the local bar, which
is often (please - no flames on this) spoken from a position of ignorance
and ingrained prejudice <Yea, lets nuke dem sonsabitches...>.
