Message-ID: <2368@ihuxf.UUCP> Date: Mon, 3-Sep-84 00:26:17 EDT Article-I.D.: ihuxf.2368 Posted: Mon Sep 3 00:26:17 1984 Date-Received: Tue, 28-Aug-84 23:47:47 EDT Organization: AT&T Bell Labs, Naperville, IL Lines: 24 x I just purchased a new Kenwood TR-2600A 2 meter walkie- talkie (it was a tossup between it and the ICOM IC02AT). Like the other brand new Kenwood vhf/uhf radios, it comes equipped with DCS, a Kenwood-ized ASCII afsk digital squelch system, which allows what is essentially "selective call" operation. Since this is a new "feature", and few hams I know have equipment containing this circuitry, I haven't found anyone to test it with yet! Has anyone in net-land tried using this new digital signaling feature Kenwood-to-Kenwood? Com- ments? Anyone else have a TR-2600A? So far, it has performed quite well, especially the 140 -160 MHz receive coverage. I will post a product review after I have more experience with this radio. -- =============================================================================== Bob Parnass, Bell Telephone Laboratories - ihnp4!ihuxf!parnass - (312)979-5414
