Ronald Reagan, in his acceptance speech, came out with a REAL zinger.
Referring to the Democrats, he said:

"We could say they spend like drunken sailors -- but that would be unfair to
 drunken sailors..."

and after the guffawing died down, he added:

"...because the sailors are spending their own money."

BTW, has anyone ever noticed that Ronald Reagan has the prime characteristic
of an AI project, i.e. the matching initials?
