I sorta wonder, though... What exactly WAS he pouring over the listing? His coffee? Sweat of his brow? Liquid Paper? A Watney's? :-) Seriously, I'm not flaming the author of this story in particular, as I have seen this mistake in print many places. But, I'm damn sick of seeing it. It's "pore" and "poring" folks. "Pour" is something you can do with a liquid, and is a totally different word. (actually, my dictionary says they are both derived from the same middle English word "pouren", adding that it is obscure.) Today, current usage is that they are different words. Again, I do not mean to flame the author of True Grit, as I have greatly enjoyed reading these adventures so far. Michael D. Stimac
