The first step we took was to put Becky (then 19 months) on a mattress on the floor (no frame or box spring). She loved it, because she could get in and out "all by myself". After a month or so, we added the box spring underneath (still no frame). With a bit more effort, she could still climb into bed by herself, and was used to the size of the bed (i.e., her subconscience knew where the edge was). We don't plan to add the frame until she is big enough to get in by herself-- probably at about 4 years. I went to investigate, and found that she had got under the sheet, and was laying on the edge of the sheet so she couldn't get out! Is this unique?
