   In the process of designing a VME-based system, I've been
surprised at the only two sizes chosen for compatible cards.  It seems
to me that the extended double-height card is a more reasonable
size than the non-extended card.  Two questions:

  1) Does anyone *know* if a change to the standard is in the
     offing to make any other card sizes part of the standard?
  
  2) Does anyone know why the largest size supported is so small?

  If interest warrants, a summary of received answers will be posted.
