Came across an ad in a Radio Shack Computer Center in Ft Worth.  It
was announcing a sale on the Model 4P which will run starting 16-Sep-84
and last only one week.

The Model 4P will be on sale for $999.  The normal price right now is
$1299.  (It was $1799 earlier this year.)

The unit in question comes with the old keyboard layout (my preference),
64K and two single sided 5 1/4 disk drives.  It also specifically says
that the units have a black and white screen.  (In case you haven't
noticed, the Model 4P on page 22 of the Radio Shack Computer Center
Catalog [RSC-12] has a green screen and a keyboard layout where the
cursor keys are clustered together.  Don't look at the one on the cover;
it appears to be a half-breed.)  Apart from that, the machines operate the
same.

The ad only says that the price is good at Radio Shack Computer Centers
and participating stores in dealers.  I could not tell if this is being
offered out of the FWD area, but I get the impression it will be.
You may have to call around to find someone who is going to have this sale.

This might be a good time to take the plunge and replace that Model I
if you are tired of it rebooting so often and tired of complaints
from the government about it jamming certain strategic frequencies.
The Model 4P will run nearly all of the Model I/III disk software.
(No cassette software, since there is no cassette port.)

If you want a green screen, a new monitor is not that expensive (far
less than $300), so you may want to buy the above unit and put the old
tube on the shelf and get a new green or amber one.
