[Line-eater - it cleans as it polishes!]

The Ad Hoc Arbitrary Committee on Netnews Slogans has considered and
rejected the following slogans.  Reasons are given in parentheses.

	NETNEWS - it's the real thing!  (It's not the real anything.)

	NETNEWS - hasn't scratched yet!  (The line-eater must be laughing
		at this one.)

	NETNEWS - you like it, it likes you!  (Tune in to net.abortion.)

	NETNEWS - chases dirt!  (Make that "collects dirt.")

	NETNEWS - all you add is love.  (... and nothing happens.)

	NETNEWS - reach out and touch someone.  (Make sure you're
		wearing asbestos gloves.)

	NETNEWS - I can't believe I read the whoooole thing.  (We don't
		believe it either.)

	NETNEWS - smooth as silk.  (Try "barbed wire.")

	NETNEWS - safe as milk.  (... that's been left out in the sun for
		two weeks.)

	NETNEWS - you deserve a break today.  (But not a six-hour break!)

	NETNEWS - a rich man's high!  (More like a poor man's Enquirer.)

The Committee unanimously rules that further submissions are necessary if
this issue is to be resolved satisfactorily.
